Assalamualaikum and Good Afternoon, Today mark the last day of AEROSPACE DISCOVERY CENTRE for the 1st series. I would like to thank every students that involved in every elements of ADC and make things happen.  As a summary but not all,  ✅ the wasp helicopter is much² better than before,  ✅ the wing of aermacchi were cleaned from dirt and small rocks ✅ The holes and dents of Canard airplane is patched and ready for more sanding and colouring ✅ Both grey and blue microlight are in well shape ✅ RM160.00 profits gain from Hangar open day. Thank to economy team ✅ PID controller demo setup has started. ✅ The programmable drone team made it to fly a real drone. ✅ The f22 made it to maiden and flight training ✅ The dirty shark has become white shark. ✅ CH750 cleaned periodically. ✅ Gas turbine engine shines ✅ Blogs are good ✅ Students managers surely looks everything are updated as it looks. ✅ Completed setup of Helicopter Drone by En Zihad. 16 May 2026 Today, Here we go photo streak with usm aero alumni, aero usm student and their vocational training instructor in front of our facilities. Here also we showcase helicopter drone and fixed wing drone, reflecting just after the helicopter demonstration and fixed wing fun fly here at our campus. Never then less, student become friends, and the memories remains. For MALAYSIA, for the nation.

Educational Visit – Early Childhood (TASKA KEMAS)

Image
23 April 2026 Educational Visit – Early Childhood (TASKA KEMAS) On 23 April 2026, the School of Aerospace Engineering also hosted a group from TASKA KEMAS An’Nur Lahar Endin, Penaga, Pulau Pinang. The visit involved 17 children aged 3 and 4 years old, accompanied by educators, staff, and parents. This visit was designed with a child-friendly approach, focusing on the concept of 3E: Explore, Experiment, and Experience. The objective was to provide early exposure to STEM in a fun, engaging, and age-appropriate manner. Activities were tailored to introduce basic ideas related to science, technology, and aviation through interactive and visual learning experiences. The program aimed to spark curiosity and nurture early interest in STEM fields, allowing children to learn through observation and hands-on engagement in a safe and supportive environment. Conclusion Both visits reflect USM’s commitment to community engagement and STEM education outreach. By catering to participants from early ...

Alumni visit to Aerospace Discovery Centre

Image
2 April 2026 - Today we had another exciting visit to our centre.  Our alumni Muhammad Syaiful Abu Bakar and Mr Jet, they came all the way from Selangor to give insights about CATIA 3D Experience, and then later we give them insights about our discoveries here with drones. And, today is also their first time to fly drone: we then flew our customized drone that built in house. What a meaningful day. Not only we got a lot of knowledge about the advancement of 3D modelling, we also get to share our know how and provide them the taste of drone in flight. Everyday is a new day.

A visit from local community

Image
1 April 2026 - Today, we had a visitors from PPK Bandar Baharu Kedah, to deep learn about drone in our Aerospace Discovery Centre, Universiti Sains Malaysia facilities.   We share our know how and expertise, about drones, piloting and handling of drone.   We also provide them with hands on to pilot our drones, including our cube box payload dropper drone and tello drone. We are very grateful to have this session in which we shared the knowledge to the communities.

Fixed Wing Drone Maiden @ USM Aerospace Discovery Centre

Image
A success on a single throw. While on february, its a success to maiden albabird 1100 mm wingspan aircraft from finwing hobby manufacturer. Equipped with a flight controller and gps, the aircraft that were build by Ziyyad from USM Skyscanner Team managed to maiden fly on a single throw. With a flight time of 20 minutes, we did get a good result of stabilize and loiter flight mode during the maiden flight. No trim at all. This is a good point for future aerospace engineer to get on the field and run a the test flight of aircraft that they build from kit. Stabilize and loitering flight modes also tested during that day. Alhamdulillah. A success for USM and Aerospace Discovery Centre, Universiti Sains Malaysia to have another step guiding students to have a test of flight of a fixed wing drone. Before the maiden flight. Ziyyad flying his build Albabird drone Delta squadron at USM RC Plane Club Group photo together with staff. One photo for the memory at our center

We started January 2026 with flight introduction to Ziyyad our aerospace 4th year undergrad, unleashing his journey, now flying our scale size helicopter. This is our centre are for, we never limit the journey of our students and share our excitements with hands-on and practical experience especially under aerospace engineering. Helicopter known for its hard to tame and prefer proper setup to be fly stable. This is his first time to fly this size of helicopter with minimum flight experience with this kind of machine. Here we go, the story unfold, rotary wing chapter, here we go! Group photo after the flight Ziyyad on his first time to fly a helicopter. It is a super way hard to fly a helicopter before.
