ESA321 Group Assignment | Glider Model Project

ESA321 Group Assignment | Glider Model Project

Our ESA321 students are taking flight with an exciting Glider Model Group Assignment! 🚀

In this project, students work in teams to design, build, and test a glider model using sustainable materials, applying fundamental aerospace engineering principles to a real-world challenge.

🔧 What’s involved?
✔️ Designing the fuselage, wings, tail section, and landing gear
✔️ Optimizing aerodynamics, stability, and structural strength
✔️ Ensuring safe payload support and smooth landings

📏 Performance Targets:
🛫 Minimum flight distance of 10 meters
🛬 Successful and safe landing with minimal damage

🏫 Testing Location:
All gliders are tested at the Aerospace Discovery Centre, Hangar, School of Aerospace Engineering, where performance, control, and design execution are evaluated.

📅 Key Dates:
7 January 2026

This project highlights teamwork, creativity, and hands-on learning as students transform theory into flight-ready designs.
