AEROSTEAM 2025 TAKES OFF AT THE AEROSPACE DISCOVERY CENTRE!

The sky was alive with excitement today as AEROSTEAM 2025 officially launched at the Aerospace Discovery Centre, USM Engineering Campus!

Funded by MMK Sains dan Teknologi, Kerajaan Negeri Pulau Pinang, this program is proudly held in collaboration with the School of Aerospace Engineering USM, Pejabat Pendidikan Daerah Seberang Perai Selatan, and the USM RC Plane Club.
What began in 2023 as a small paper wing competition by the USM RC Plane Club has now soared to new heights! After earning a STEM grant from the Penang Education Council in 2024, AEROSTEAM 2025 has grown even bigger — uniting 16 secondary schools from Seberang Perai Selatan to compete in four exciting paper plane challenge categories:

1. Distance
2. Endurance
3. Accuracy
4. Creativity

Today’s session featured engaging flight theory briefings, a paper plane workshop, and a special visit to our Aerospace Discovery facilities — including the legendary Wasp Helicopter, Aermacchi Jet, and CH750 Experimental Airplane inside our hangar.

The excitement continues! Participants will return on 19 November for the main event in our fully equipped hall. With all four challenges set, we’re confident these young innovators will come prepared — ready to give their full thrust and let their handmade planes soar high!

Today, we didn’t just see paper planes take flight — we saw the future of aerospace engineering in motion.

Our 1st Open Day as an Aerospace Discovery Centre

28.8.2025 Yes, we have done the 1st Open day for Aerospace Discovery Centre, Universiti Sains Malaysia . We are very excited to see more and more people come in to our facilities here at USM Kampus Kejuruteraan to see, feel, hands on with our full scale and scale aircrafts here at our Hangar School of Aerospace Engineering USM . This is only the beginning, Aerospace Discovery Centre will have more and more open day to the public after this.   This is truly us, the spirit of discovery and get the taste of aerospace in your hand.
